A Horrible Day

31/12/2015

The Sunday after Christmas was a very sad day for us as we had to say goodby to Rocky aka Siarung Caramel Latte.  He suddenly became unwell within a short space of time and my diagnosis was confirmed when one of my vets did bloods that his kidneys had packed in.
Rocky had to fight right from the start of his life being revived after a caesarian.  At just over a year old he lost his eye to an access within it then at about 18 months old he had what was like a stroke that left him with a head tilt which we got him over but his weight then rocketed to 10 kg despite not eating anymore than another cat.  He was tested for many things but nothing was discovered.
He was only 6 1/2 years old and the father of the litter that we decided we could not sell, three of them have already passed before him and only two remain.
I would never have been without him but would have happily have been without the lines he came out of.
The house is very quiet without him :(

Well this was our last show of the year and it had been 10 years since I last attended this show. It was certainly the first time I have gone to a show in December with a t-shirt on lol.
Anyway we had a lovely time and to top it all our young lad Edemlen E-Clusive was made up to Champion and Champion Siarung Izzy Azalea gained her first Grand Challenge Certificate.

We had wanted to go to this show for a while but it had always clashed with other things but we made it this year and it was lovely to catch up with friends.
Jill the Show Manager had put a lot of effort into making things different regards rosettes etc which gave it a nice touch.
IGr Ch Gandhi Arkinor was awarded Reserve Olympian which was lovely.
UK & IGr Ch Tina Antariys wasn't placed in her strong Olympian class but we had put her into two fun classes "The Most Laid Back Cat" and " The Prettiest Female" and she won both.  She was also AOC Devon Rex BOB and BOB Devon Adult.
Gr Ch Siarung Synergy was awarded her Imperial Grand Certificate and BOB.
Siarung Shakira was awarded Grand CC which gives her the title of Grand Champion and her brother Siarung Alt J his third Premier Certificate giving him the title of Premier.  This means that all Gandhi's children are now titled.
Last but not least our gorgeous young lad Edemlen X-Clusive gained his second Challenge Certificate and won the Junior Adult class out of seven.
I was also dead chuffed as I had put him into the Red Wings Charity Calss and he was third out of 41 cats of all breeds.
One of the nicest things about the day was at vetting in Duty Vet Sue Moreland said to me that my cats were an absolute credit to me and I should register with the GCCF Breeders Scheme.

Well we travelled down to Birmingham for the Supreme show on Saturday the 23rd of October.  We were  bit heavy hearted as we had to leave behind our young lad Edemlen X-Clusive as in a mad half-hour he managed to bump his eye and it was still a bit watery :(
Anyway the girls did us proud

Our lovely girl Tina gained her second UK Grand certificate and is now known as UK & Imperial Grand Champion Tina Antariys.  She then went on to win Best of Breed and is pictured her being judged in the final twelve for Best of Variety.

This is Ch Siarung Shakira being judged and she gained her second Grand Champion certificate so it was a very good result for team Siarung.  We were also asked to judge the Rex Cat Club Decorated Pen Competition which was fun and kept us very busy.

Well we made the trip down to Ettington once again for this lovely little show.  The car was full to the brim with our sponsorship items as we once again donated hampers for both the pedigree and household pet Best in Shows and also some specials for cats of our choice :)
This year I had been invited to judge household pets which kept me busy and out of mischief.

Well it's been a busy few weeks and the back yard where all the boys runs are have been laid to stone flagstones. Just the runs to get painted.

X-Clusive is spending days in his run and today he got a nice new TV/DVD

Gutted

Well a busy start to the week with cats dogs and rabbit going to our vets for boosters on Monday and Fizz and Jaffa going for dentals on Tuesday.

All was not well when I picked them up. Fizz our older lady was fine and her pre-op bloods were fine but I was gutted to discover that jaffas blood urea was more than double what it should be and on checking his kidneys are very small:(

He is only four but out of a very dodgy Siamese/Oriental line we unknowingly bought in and lost several cats to it very young.

He has been flushed through with a drip and has his kidneys diet he will eat it but much prefers what everyone else is eating.

We may not have him for a very long time so to be honest I would rather he had what he enjoys to eat and spoil him rotten.

I'm so glad I took the decision to neuter everything in these lines as I would hate for someone else to have to go through this. It's sad that people are using these lines even the people who have asked me about my problems with it. I suppose for them knowing and still buying into this line as certificate and title is more important than the health and comfort of a cat. Inhale watched the cats in this line suffer and it's not a nice thing to watch.

Scottish Rex Cat Club Show 1/8/2015

Well unfortunately GCCF Gr Ch and FIFe ICh Gandhi Arnikor didn't make the Scottish Rex Fest show but his girls did him proud.  GCCF Gr Ch and FIFe ICh Siarung Synergy gained her first Imperial Grand Certificate and was Best of Breed Devon Adult.

GCCF Ch and FIFe Ch Siarung Serfina gained a Reserve Grand Certificate and I was quite gobsmacked that FIFe Ch Siarung Izzy Azalea gained her second Challenge Certificate in a good class of four.

Mean while not to be outdone our new kid Edemlen X-Clusive was first in his open class and Best of Breed Kitten.  Everyone was placed first in all three classes apart from one silly judge placed Izzy second in a class lol it was great to do this with competition in all the classes.

Synergy and X-Clusive went forward to Best in Show which went to a split vote with the three cats of the referee judge chose Synergy as Best in Show Devon.

Life has been very busy and we have been showing up and down the length and breadth of the country both with FIFe and GCCF so we haven't been keeping things up to date on here.

We are going to start updating the site and have already started to make changes.

We may play a bit catch up with the blog we shall see.
